For people looking for an awning in the UK this year might notice something different about the awning market. Awnings have been increasing in popularity over the last 15 years and this is due to a number of factors.

Firstly people have become aware of patio awnings as a product. Secondly the warmer summers have created a need for awnings - even if this is only for a few months in the summer. Thirdly the products available have improved beyond recognition.

Most UK patio awnings we install are motorised and operated with a remote handset. This makes using awnings so simple with a simple press of a button. You can still have a manual crank system but these are only really suitable for small awnings. I know that our customers who have motorised awnings use them more as it is so effortless.

So what has changed in the awning market this year.

Consumers may not be aware but a number of large trade suppliers have dropped out of the UK market completely this year. The value of the pound against the euro has brought to an end the special offers and low prices for top quality awnings.

Many awnings offers seen in the sunday papers last year have dissappeared and some reality has returned to the market - Thankfully. The DIY market has also seen a huge fall off because many of the products were frankly rubbish and not safe to fit on your home.
