Frequently Asked Questions

Side Blinds

What is the best type of blind for the sides of my conservatory?

You can have almost any type of blind in a conservatory but there are certain blinds that lend themselves to conservatories. They are pleated, vertical, Venetian, roman and woodweave. The New Perfect Fit Blinds have been designed specifically for conservatories and require no drilling for installation. Each of these is summarised at the bottom of the page.

Will the new blinds take away the use of my window sills?

Vertical blinds will mean that you cannot use the sills for plants and ornaments. The benefit of this can of course mean that vertical blinds give a modern uncluttered look. The best blinds for close fitting are Perfect Fit Blinds in either 20mm pleated fabric or 25mm Venetian slats

Will the blinds stop my furniture fading?

All blinds except those made from very sheer fabrics will protect your furniture from fading. Of course you may want the blinds to be open to see the garden so the furniture will not be protected. If the item is in shade it should not fade.

Can I have Roller Blinds in my conservatory?

Roller blinds can be fitted to conservatories but great care must be taken in fabric choice, as a cheap fabric will lose its colour and will curl at the edges over time. We can advise on fabrics that are suitable for fitting in Conservatories. They would be made to outroll to miss the handles of the opening windows.

Do I have one blind per window or can you "double up"?

You can "double up" or even "triple up" if the sections are not too wide. Verticals, Woodweave and Venetians are particularly suitable for this. Pleated and Romans are not quite so suitable. The advantage of doing this is that you have fewer blinds to operate.

Where will you fit the blinds?

This will be discussed when we visit to measure up, There are so many styles of conservatory on the market that we have to survey each job as it comes. We have been installing in conservatories for over 12 years and will know where to fit in your conservatory. Some installations require fixing battens so that the blinds do not hit the window handles.

How can I clean my blinds?

All blinds can be vacuumed or wiped down with a damp cloth. Some vertical blind slats can be machine washed. Venetian blinds need dusting with a feather duster.

           Can the blinds be motorised?

We can supply motorization to Verticals, venetians, roller and pleated blinds.

Can I choose the control sides for my blinds?

You can choose the control sides and in the case of Vertical blinds the draw options. You can also have a wand operation for vertical blinds.
